Red Dead Redemption PC Version Leaked on PSN

One of the most cherished games from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation, Red Dead Redemption, is finally making its way to PC. The game’s PC version was recently leaked on PlayStation Network (PSN), confirming what many fans have been hoping for. Here's what we know so far.

Red Dead Redemption PC Version Confirmed

After months of speculation and leaks, Red Dead Redemption is finally confirmed to be coming to PC. The game, originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, has been a fan favorite for over a decade. Last year’s re-release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch expanded its reach, but PC gamers have been waiting patiently for their turn.

In a recent development, a new description was discovered on the PSN page of the game, which reads:

"Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation; now available on PC for the first time."

The description goes on to summarize the story of John Marston, a former outlaw forced by federal agents to hunt down his old gang members. The game, which serves as the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster Red Dead Redemption 2, also includes the iconic horror story Undead Nightmare, transforming the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic survival struggle against a zombie horde.

What's Included in the PC Version?

The PC version of Red Dead Redemption will include the single-player experiences of both the original game and Undead Nightmare. It will also feature all the bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, along with enhancements introduced in the 2023 console release, such as increased resolution and frame rate support, multi-screen compatibility, and spatial surround sound—all features tailored specifically for PC.

Interestingly, the product page lists PlayStation 4 as the platform and August 17, 2023, as the release date—the same day the game was launched on PS4. This suggests that we might be looking at a remastered version rather than a full-scale remake, with improvements primarily in resolution, frame rate, and multi-screen support.

What to Expect Moving Forward

While the news of a simple remaster might be disappointing to some, especially given rumors of a full remake using the RDR2 engine, the PC version could still benefit from mod support, potentially introducing new features and enhancements. However, the release date for the Red Dead Redemption PC version has yet to be announced, so fans will need to wait for an official statement from Rockstar Games.
