Cyberpunk 2077: All Changes in Update 2.1

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.1 update brings changes to Night City, including a host of new gameplay features and accessibility options, as well as a Metro system. While the game's massive 2.0 release is believed by many to be the last major update for the game, in a post on December 1, 2023, CD Projekt Red announced more changes coming to the revitalized version of the game. Among these changes are some features that players have been asking for since the start of the hype train all those years ago - one of them being a Metro system.

New Features in 2.1 Update

With Cyberpunk 2077's 2.1 update on December 5, 2023, players will be able to make the game more interactive, listen to radios everywhere, engage in more dynamic vehicle battles, and even encounter Adam Smasher, a re-powered Sandevistan user. However, one of the most exciting features players have been waiting for is the addition of a full-fledged Metro system. This feature was shown in the original trailers for the game and assets for such a system existed in the game, but until now players only had to fast travel if they wanted to get somewhere on the map automatically.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Metro can be sped up during missions, such as having an NPC drive the V somewhere, but it's also possible to play the journey completely when the train is allowed to go to their next stop. In the 2.1 update there will be several Metro lines, so don't forget to look at the map before taking a ride on the train.

A Challenging Man Smasher Boss Battle

Cyberpunk 2077: All Changes in Update 2.1

Adam Smasher outshines David in Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Adam Smasher is, to borrow Johnny Silverhand's words, a fully "borgized", non-human "security" guard working for the Arasaka Corporation who killed Silverhand in 2023. However, when players reach the battle with him at the end of the game, especially on higher difficulty levels, they may realize that this battle can become simplistic due to V becoming very powerful by Level 60. Armed with the game's latest weapons and abilities, V makes the battle quite easy.

But with the 2.1 update, Cyberpunk 2077 makes Adam Smasher a much more formidable opponent. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Adam Smasher has been given a Sandevistan and now appears to move quickly from one location to another while dodging V's shots more easily. This is going to be quite a challenge for Night City's nightmare.

Meeting Point and Personal Radio for Romantic Partners

Cyberpunk 2077: All Changes in Update 2.1

Over the years, Cyberpunk 2077 fans have demanded more interaction with romantic partners. While update 2.1 does not add new romantic options, it will give players a place to see and hang out with their partners outside of quests and text messages.

Additionally, players will now be able to listen to the radio while driving. With the 2.1 Cyberpunk 2077 update, radio music will be playable everywhere and V will be given a personal radio to carry everywhere. Being able to do more things with the chosen romantic partner and play Night City's music everywhere will make the world more interactive than ever before.

Major Driving, Motorcycle and Street Racing Updates

Cyberpunk 2077: All Changes in Update 2.1

With the 2.1 update, one of the biggest and most eye-catching updates is a series of changes targeting vehicles (especially motorcycles), street racing and chase sequences. With new motorcycles and a new Johnny Silverhand-themed vehicle coming to the game, players can now use throwing weapons while riding motorcycles. Also, thanks to changes to how motorcycle physics work in Cyberpunk 2077, players can now ride more effectively and even perform special maneuvers such as flips. Some of Cyberpunk 2077's best missions are the street racing missions that Claire takes V on, but once these were completed, these intense races could not be repeated. With the 2.1 update, Cyberpunk 2077 racing missions will be repeatable, so players can take to the streets whenever they want. Finally, enemy AI will be updated to allow gangs and regular enemies, not just Police, to follow V in their vehicles - now neutralizing a group of gang members might not be so easy.

User Interface Customization and Accessibility Improvements

The last big changes coming in update 2.1 for Cyberpunk 2077 are a series of UI and accessibility updates - including a completely new accessibility tab. This tab will include a range of options such as various colorblind modes, subtitles for all speech sounds and music, the size of on-screen text and background opacity.

In terms of UI updates, there are now enable and disable options for chromatic aberration, lens distortion and decorative elements of the HUD. Players can choose to prevent their weapons from going to Arm Cyberware when scrolling through their gear, and the Breach Protocol minigame will no longer have any time limit - as decoding these codes can become quite complex.
