Fortnite Unveils Over 1200 Existing LEGO Versions!

Fortnite has announced that the LEGO Fortnite mode will include hundreds of LEGO-style costumes that can be used in the upcoming LEGO Fortnite mode, launching on December 7th. These costumes are LEGO recreations of regular Fortnite versions. This will include both Fortnite costumes made by Epic and licensed character costumes from various crossover events.

LEGO Fortnite Mode

LEGO Fortnite was a long-rumored mode that was officially announced on December 2nd. It's playable from within the regular Fortnite app and aims to create a more kid-friendly environment. A departure from Fortnite's popular battle-royale mode, LEGO Fortnite is a survival and building game that focuses on presumably PvE gameplay rather than PvP. It's unclear how much the new mode will intertwine with Fortnite's battle royale, but it seems likely that skins in particular will make the transition to LEGO Fortnite.

Over 1,200 Fortnite Costumes in LEGO Style

A tweet sent to LEGO Fortnite's Twitter account revealed that LEGO-style versions of over 1,200 Fortnite skins have been made for use in the new mode. This number does not include every Fortnite skin, likely due to licensing issues with skins from some crossover events. To unlock the LEGO-style version of a skin, players will need to own the regular version of that skin. They can only see the LEGO-style version of their favorite skin by going to the Chest section in Fortnite.

Regular Additions to LEGO Fortnite

Fortnite developer Epic Games has also announced that LEGO Fortnite will regularly add more LEGO-style costumes and LEGO-style emotes in the future. This new Fortnite mode has caused quite a stir since it was announced a year ago that Epic Games was partnering with LEGO. When the partnership was first announced, the two companies said they aimed to create an environment within Fortnite that focused on the safety, privacy, and well-being of children. It's still unclear exactly how these values will play out in the new mode.

Known Details and Important Statements

Although the mod has yet to launch, some details of LEGO Fortnite have leaked. The mod will include a mining feature that will allow players to collect various ores to create LEGO-style structures. LEGO Fortnite will also feature its own map, where players will be able to go on various adventures through a LEGO-themed world.

Over the years, Fortnite has become a hub for various crossover events. But Fortnite's collaboration with LEGO could be more meaningful than any that have been done so far, as the two brands could have massive appeal with younger demographics. The addition of a unique map and various new gameplay mechanics suggests that Epic is thinking about this with a long-term perspective.
